Jon Snow Quiz: Questions & Answers

Here are some more details on the answers (but please only read AFTER you have taken the quiz as it will give you the answers). This will provide you more context on every answer on our Jon Snow quiz.

1) What name does Ned say when asked by Robert who Jon’s mother is?

Ned Stark tells Robert that Jon Snow’s mother’s name was named “Wylla”. Here was their exchange:

Robert Baratheon: “She must have been a rare wench to make Lord Eddard Stark forget his honor. You never told me what she looked like.”

Ned Stark: “Nor will I.”

As we found out later, ‘Wylla’ was not the real mother of Jon Snow and it was really Lyanna Stark. As a result, this was a blatant lie from Ned in order to protect Jon’s real identity. This was an early seed planted in the series that Jon was not really Ned’s bastard. For those who love Eddard, you can also take our Ned Stark quiz to test your knowledge of him.

2) What is the name of Jon Snow’s sword?

Jon Snow’s sword is called ‘Longclaw’, which is a Valyrian steel sword that belonged to House Mormont for centuries. This was given to him by Lord Jeor Mormont and was originally supposed to go to his son, Jorah Mormont prior to him being exiled from Westeros.

Later in the series, Jon offers to give the sword back to Jorah but he refuses. Jorah ended up giving his blessing to Jon to keep the sword and said that he lost any right to it after he dishonored his house.

3) What role was Jon given after joining the Night’s Watch?

Jon served as the Steward for Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. The Steward is a role that does a lot of the domestic duties for the Lord Commander. As a result, Jon was initially upset when he was given this role instead of becoming a ranger, like his Uncle Benjen.

4) Which member of the Night’s Watch did Jon kill in order to gain the trust of the Wildlings?

Jon Snow kills Qhorin Halfhand in order to earn the trust of the Wildlings in season 2. This ended up working as the Wildlings took Jon in as their own. As a result, Qhorin Halfhand seems like a character who is one of the unsung heroes of the entire series. Without him giving his life for Jon, he wouldn’t have been accepted in the Wildlings.

5) What was the final word that Ned said to Jon?

The final word that Ned said to Jon was “promise”. Below is Ned’s final quote to Jon before he left for the Night’s Watch in season 1:

“The next time we meet, we’ll talk about your mother, I promise.”

As we all know, this conversation never got to happen because Ned was killed. We also found out later in the series that Jon’s mother was actually Ned’s sister, Lyanna Stark. This definitely seems like one of the most interesting conversations that we missed out on in the entire series.

6) Which Lord Commander Is Jon Snow?

Jon Snow was named the 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. He took over from Jeor Mormont, who was the 997th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. After Jon, Eddison Tollett served as the acting Lord Commander before his death.

7) What word is written on the cross before Jon Snow is stabbed?

“Traitor” is written on the cross prior to Jon getting stabbed and betrayed by the Night’s Watch. This is because the Night’s Watch members felt that Jon had betrayed them. This came after Jon had allowed the free folk to pass through the wall in order to escape the White Walkers.

8) What does Tyrion Lannister say to Jon Snow when he first arrives in Dragonstone?

Tyrion calls Jon “The Bastard of Winterfell” when he first arrives. Jon responds by calling him “The Dwarf Of Casterly Rock”. This comes after Snow first arrives to Dragonstone to meet Daenerys Targaryen. This was a fun callback to the first season, where Tyrion and Jon exchanged some fun banter. For any fans of ‘The Imp’, you can also try our Tyrion Lannister quiz, which is in a similar format to this.

9) How is Jon Snow related to Daenerys Targaryen?

Daenerys Targaryen is Jon Snow’s aunt. He is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, who is Daenerys’ older brother. It was a longtime theory that R+L=J which suggested Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark were his parents. This turned out to be true and was a major reveal in the series. Daenerys and Jon ended up falling in love, which ultimately led to Jon killing Daenerys.

10) What is Jon Snow’s true name?

Jon Snow’s real name is Aegon Targaryen. We find this out as a result of a conversation between Sam and Jon during Season 8. Over the history of the Targaryen family, there have been several members named ‘Aegon’. This includes “Aegon the Conqueror” and “Aegon the Unworthy”.

Some Extra Trivia About Jon

The Casting Of Jon Snow

Luckily, the black eye didn’t cost Kit the role.

  • In an interview, Iwan Rheon revealed that he also auditioned for the role of Jon Snow. He also mentioned that the casting of the character came down to him and Kit Harington as the final choices. Rheon didn’t get the part but ended up getting cast as Ramsay Bolton and played a big role in the series.

The ankle injury happened after a night of partying where Harington forgot his keys to his London flat and tried to climb into his first-floor window. This led to him falling and breaking his ankle. Luckily, they were able to shuffle around the shooting schedule for the season and they also used a body double for his scenes as Jon Snow.

  3. Thanks for making me to attain new strategies about desktops. I also have belief that certain of the best ways to maintain your laptop in leading condition is with a hard plastic-type material case, or even shell, that will fit over the top of the computer. A majority of these protective gear are usually model precise since they are made to fit perfectly on the natural casing. You can buy these directly from the owner, or through third party places if they are readily available for your mobile computer, however not every laptop could have a spend on the market. Once more, thanks for your recommendations.
