AGOT Quiz Questions & Answers
Here are some more details on the answers (but only read AFTER you have taken the quiz). This will give you the answers to the quiz and also some more context on each answer:
1) What year was A Game Of Thrones first published?
A Game Of Thrones by George R.R Martin was first published on August 1st, 1996. The book series went on to become massively successful and subsequently inspired the Game Of Thrones television series from HBO. Crazy to think that it was published so long ago and it is still not finished.
2) Which point of view character has the first chapter of the series (after the Prologue)?
The very first point of view chapter of the entire series is Bran Stark. This is where Lord Eddard Stark executes a member of the Night’s Watch for deserting.
3) What is the name of the man executed for desertion by Lord Eddard Stark at the start of the book?
Gared is the name of the ranger of the Night’s Watch who was executed by Ned Stark. This is a bit of a trick question as the name of the ranger who is executed in the television show is Will but it is actually Gared in the books in that role. As a result, you definitely know your stuff if you got this question right.
4) Which of these characters is NOT a point of view character in the first book?
The answer is Cersei Lannister as she didn’t become a point of view character until the fourth book, A Feast for Crows. Catelyn Stark, Sansa Stark, and Arya Stark are all point of view characters in the first book.
5) Which character had the most point of view chapters in the book?
Eddard Stark had 15 total point of view chapters in the first book, which is the most of any other character. In second place was Eddard’s wife, Catelyn Stark, who had 11 chapters in the first book. This was some brilliant writing from George because fans likely didn’t expect the main character of the first book to be killed.
6) What was the name of Tyrion Lannister’s first wife?
Tyrion’s first wife was named Tysha, as revealed during his 6th point of view chapter in the first book. Tyrion tells the story to Bronn about how the marriage came to be and how it was really a prank that was set up by his father, Tywin. Make sure to also take our Tyrion Lannister quiz to test yourself on the character.
7) True Or False: A Game Of Thrones Is George R.R Martin’s first published novel
This is false as Martin had a few published novels to his name before this came out. His first novel was called Dying of the Light and came out in 1977.
8) True Or False: Robb Stark is a point of view character in this book
This is false as Robb Stark is not a point of view character in this or any of the books. Robb is mostly used a background character but still plays an important role in the series.
9) True or False: This books has over 1000 pages.
This is false as the book has 694 pages total. As a result, this is the shortest book in the entire series. Fans likely think that this one was super long as well because of the length of the other books in the series.
10) Which character has the final point of view chapter before the end of the book (not including the Appendix)
Daenerys X is the final point of view chapter of the first book and it is also the 72nd total chapter in the book.
